Bark Paintings
When I arrived in Australia at the end of 2012, I was struck by the amount of bark lying on the ground around eucalyptus trees. I knew I could do something with it, so started collecting and experimenting.
These bark paintings were the precursor to my bark sculpture.
It is a beautiful product to work with, satisfying to paint on and holds vast possibilities.
Each piece has a unique character of lines, patterns, knots, shades and lumps - all those things that tease the imagination and the subconscious, that inspires instinctive drawing and design.
I never strip trees, only collect from the ground.
Following no-one's rules or methodologies, I experiment, discover and learn throughout the process.
I am not producing bark paintings at present but do have a small amount of stock remaining to sell at a highly discounted price, or would be happy to discuss a commission piece. Bear in mind my style. I am not a portrait or landscape painter.
